Senior Sleep Scientist
Laura leads our sleep laboratory as the senior sleep scientist, bringing extensive academic expertise that greatly supports our team of sleep scientists. We employ highly qualified staff with strong academic backgrounds to ensure the exceptional quality of our investigations and studies. Our patient-focused, science-driven approach sets us apart from commercial resellers.
Lauraโs extensive sleep experience involves working in adult and paediatric sleep medicine for 17 years in both Australia and the United Kingdom. She first worked as a sleep scientist at the Royal Brisbane Hospital for seven years before relocating to the greater London area and working in multiple major sleep laboratories. From there, she worked as a sleep scientist at the Imperial College London (ICL) for three years, then managed the paediatric sleep laboratory at St Maryโs Hospital before returning to Australia. During her time in the UK, Laura collaborated with Phillips and Nox Medical as Chief Investigator on several research projects.
Laura has a proven track record of relaying high-quality and reliable knowledge and advice to both patients and healthcare professionals. Her knowledge and experience in the sleep industry extends to the following areas:
- Patient monitoring / diagnosis: polysomnography (PSG), multiple sleep latency test (MSLT), and maintenance of wakefulness test (MWT)
- Patient interface (CPAP masks)
- Sleep coaching
- Sleep disordered breathing
- Sleep study analysis
- Non-invasive positive pressure ventilation (NIPPV)
- Obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) treatment options
Laura holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc) from the University of Rio de Janeiro, a Master of Science (MSc) from the University of Westminster, London, and a PhD from the Queensland University of Technology, Brisbane.
Laura chose the sleep industry because she loves helping people and enjoys the instant difference she can make on peopleโs lives. Sleep is interesting, essential, and plays a major role in health and wellbeing. Working at NBST, Laura is able to work with an incredible and highly trained team where everyone truly cares about their patients and strives to make their experience as smooth, comfortable, and accurate as possible.
Outside of work, Laura has three young boys, including twins, and enjoys Pilates and catching up with friends.
